Biography[]
Background[]
As revealed in the episode Dance with Danger, Ms. Chalice was once an orphan who lived in a strict orphanage managed by penguin matrons. However, through her mundane tasks she eventually developed a love for rhythm and tap dancing, angering the matrons who would put her to do more chores so one day, she steals all the matrons' rulers, constructs a glider and escapes.
Now all alone on the streets, Ms. Chalice struggles to find a means to support herself until whilst accidentally dancing, she charms a man into giving her a dollar. Learning the power of charisma, Ms. Chalice begins using her charm and dancing to trick people into giving her things such as money and food. However, one day whilst dancing, she gets run over by a tram and killed.
Ending up in hell for her misdeeds, Chalice realizes she's a ghost and meets the Devil, who, noting her desperation for legs to dance with, decides to propose a deal to her: he will revive her, allowing her to switch from being a ghost to a living being whenever she wants, but at a cost she will have to repay him later. Accepting the deal, Chalice is transformed back to her living form, and, after being asked to return his wallet, the Devil sends her back in the realm of the living, although Henchman soon realizes she stole his wallet as well.
In Charms Way[]
She first meets Cuphead and Mugman after they follow her out of a movie theater, and decides to teach them how to persuade people with their charisma. She eventually leads them to a cookie factory, where they sneak in and help themselves to the cookies inside. However, Chalice unknowingly triggers a silent alarm which alerts the authorities and soon gets them surrounded by police. Not wanting to get caught, Chalice regretfully abandons her new friends Cuphead and Mugman by turning into a ghost and exiting though a wall.

She angers a mob of people who decide to hunt her down, causing her to hide at Elder Kettle's house with Cuphead and Mugman, who had escaped prison in the previous episode. When the mob arrive, she reveals to have the ability to change her appearance from physical form to her ghost form. She bids farewell to Cuphead and Mugman, saying she needed to hide until the heat dies down.

All goes well, until the they go to a house that’s really haunted by a group of elderly buzzard siblings called the Birmbaum Quadruplets. They eventually trap them in a painting and leave to go get their ice cream, not knowing that they left their piggy bank filled with all the money they scammed from other people in said painting.
