🌟 Reflecting on a Game-Changing Development in Sports Tech! 🌟A few weeks ago, the sports technology scene witnessed a significant milestone with the Riedel RefBox achieving FIFA Quality Certification for VAR technology. While this news might not be hot off the press, its implications for the beautiful game are worth a lively discussion (and perhaps a friendly debate on whether it's called football or soccer, depending on where you're standing—or should I say, cheering? 😄).The certification of the RefBox system is a nod to its capability to enhance decision-making accuracy on the field, ensuring that every call is as fair as a perfectly curved free-kick. It's exciting to see such innovations elevating international football standards, ensuring that the essence of the game is preserved while embracing the benefits of modern technology. As we continue to witness the integration of advanced technologies like the RefBox in sports, it's clear that the future of football (or soccer, let's agree to disagree!) is not just about the goals and the glory, but also about the precision and fairness that technology can bring to the game.Let's continue the conversation around how technology is reshaping sports as we know it. And yes, whether you're a fan of calling it football or soccer, we can all agree that advancements like these are what keep the game truly exciting.https://lnkd.in/emRF22_j#SportsTech #VAR #FootballOrSoccer #Innovation #FIFA

The future of the fight against fake perfs lies in targeting and indirect means."This study demonstrates the utility of performance monitoring to discriminate between athletes with historical ADRVs and those without. Specifically, we demonstrate how our model could be utilised to identify athletes who are at greater risk of doping. However, it is important to recognise that high levels of delta excess performance are not sufficient toprovean athlete is doping and that information obtained from this type of analysis should be integrated with other data as part of a wider intelligence gathering approach to anti-doping."https://lnkd.in/epdSXgqf

All sports are more or less contaminated by doping practices and fake perfs."...in billiards, doping sometimes occurs. It has a direct impact on sports results. These may be, for example, beta-blockers, the use of which has a very positive effect on the player’s performance. This means that ones actions take place in an atmosphere of peace, so one can hit more precisely and is not stressed. These substances lower blood pressure and optimize the game."https://lnkd.in/gitVXfV5

An Olympic-style competition where athletes can take performance enhancing drugs? 🤯 Welcome to The Enhanced Games. A competition and business model that’s just been backed by Peter Thiel. The proposal?Breaking world records and designing a competition for the era of social media and shortening attention spans.Founder Aron D’Souza claims The Enhanced Games will be the first sporting event in the world without drug testing. And since 44% of athletes have admitted to using banned performance-enhancing substances The Enhanced game is an offering to do this all out in the open.Athletes will be paid a base rate for competing, with bonuses for winning events and breaking records. This disrupts the traditional payment model. There are obvious concerns from sporting committees around the ethics of such an event. Namely the Olympics committee themselves. What do you think? Is this a reinvention of a dated Sports format or a step too far?#sportsnews #olympics #investing

After their work on the pitch/court/field/etc. and their NIL rights, athlete data is the third big-value contribution the players make to the sport industry - so it's only logical that they get more control over it. Privacy rights of players - but really all citizens - should be exercisable instentaneously, because that’s the nature of the value and sensitivity of their data. It is created, used and possibly misused within a blink of an eye but the impact can stretch far whether positive or negative for the individual. We want to build a tech solution that ultimately provides those possibilities for players and at the same time provides stable, scalable solutions for the industry to innovate and optimize its interaction with player data. Some comments in this piece in Sports Business Journal about #FIFPRO's plans to give all footballers access, portability and control over their data.https://lnkd.in/eFYhj8_F

"Catch me if you can: Match-Fixing"Interesting and lively discussions on the panel today at C5 Geneva on match-fixing, a real scourge for football and sport in general.Thank you Andreas Krannich (Executive VicePresident at Sportradar) and Vincent Ven (Head of Anti-Match Fixing at UEFA) for your insightful remarks.Hereafter some interesting statistics and takeaways: - the use of artificial intelligence has been tremendously efficient to detect match-fixing activities in different sports (1329 in 2023 vs 694 in 2020);- the top suspicious sports are football and basketball;- 97.5% of the detected suspicious activities came from men’s sporting events, with the remaining 2.5% coming from women’s events;- enforcement authorities should more cooperate with sport federations, who have no coercive power; - in addition to monitoring and investigating suspicious activities, the education of young players is of paramount importance in order to prevent match-fixing.#fraud#matchfixing#assetrecoveryC5 Communications
