So they want to break away from the BIG 12 & the ACC so they can dominate the CFP and make even more money ? Okay.. the other schools in the NCAA should unite together and EXCLUDE those 2 Conferences in the March Madness Basketball Tournament.. Brett Yormark is a self-acknowleged BASKETBALL guy.. so he should lead this group and let the SEC and BIG10 know that if they want to break away in Football they will get eliminated in Basketball... Let's see how their fan bases like that.. you got to fight fire with fire.. If the SEC and the BIG10 want to break away in Football , then it's gonna cost them March Madness.. they will be isolated from the rest of America...

The joint SEC/Big Ten basketball tournament that would air on ESPN and FOX in response would get better ratings than March Madness.

That would depend on what basketball schools they extend invitations to. Right now, there's not too many blue bloods in those conferences.

No way.. March Madness includes colleges all across America.. including the footprint of the SEC and BIG10

Another thing. If the SEC and BIG10 break away.. there's going to be a lot of resentment and animosity towards those 2 leagues.. people are going to tune out . Including me !

Let them break away, it'll be more fun to watch the remaining teams battle each other without having to play against the unfair advantage the blue bloods have.

If not for gambling, a boycott on those two conferences might work.

There's going to be a break away with the Power 2 (SEC & B1G) to form a new division or entity outside of the NCAA. They are going to take basketball with them. The question is will they invite anyone from the Big 12 and ACC?

The SEC & B1G can make more money from their own tournament than what the ncaa receives for the tournament.

I don't think that will be true...at least not in their current alignment.

My question is with both ESPN and the Disney channels along with FOX network carrying the SEC and B1G tournament who's going to carry the NCAA tournament?

Football is where the real money is for most of these schools.

Same networks that carry it now. CBS, TruTV, TBS, TNT. ESPN and Fox have never televised a NCAA Tournament game.

Everybody knows that. That's why the SEC & BIG10 want to break away from the other schools.. keep all the football money for themselves.. But the rest of the College Sports world need to fight Back and make them pay a price for these Greedy Actions.. the rest of us just can't roll over and take it without forcing those 2 to pay at least a PR price.. if not a Financial Price... what's the position of ESPN & FOX ? Do they only want to Broadcast the SEC & BIG10 ? They will lose viewership because people who are outside the Power 2 will turn away

Except none of that is likely to happen, and your guy Yormark is ultimately going to go along with what the P2 want despite your wishful thinking otherwise.

“Fight fire with fire”——Sounds exactly like what Barney Fife said to Andy Griffith once when Opie and his friends were selling Miracle Salve. At best, It is more than likely a good way to get burned up.

The B1G and SEC will do whatever they want. It’s been this way for years and ain’t changed or changing in the future. Nobody goes against them including the NCAA—total joke of an enforcement organization.

There is no fighting back either with a boycott. Schools in those conferences have the biggest stadiums, highest tv ratings, best tv contracts, and richest alumni/donors. It’s not like anyone is going to quit watching a certain school/conference games because they’re playing with better players in a better time slot on network tv or ESPN/FS1. Heck there isn’t a single school outside those two conferences who wouldn’t leave their current conference for the SEC or B1G in a heartbeat, so good luck with any type of effective boycott.

My advice is realize the grand importance of college sports in your own life and see it for what it is—entertainment—nothing more and nothing less.

I guess I’ve always worked under the assumption that if the Big 10 and SEC broke off from the NCAA that they would not participate in the NCAA Basketball Tournament and would do its own deal. I never really considered ”banding together“ and not allowing them to. It would just be understood that they were out.

    Why?

So they can create their own tournament? How does that help anyone? It only hurts everyone.

There is already resentment. But feelings dont run college football, money does.

Resentment leads to fewer viewers interested in watching games on TV. which leads to less money.. ESPN & FOX will figure this out soon.

I'd imagine a basketball tournament with UNC, Duke, Kansas, Arizona, UConn, Nova, Gonzaga would be a larger draw than UK, UCLA, Michigan, Indiana, Tennessee, etc.

I mean, I'd probably watch both.
